Duties & Responsibilities

The Department of Finance provides accounting and internal auditing services for all financial activities of the city. A system of fund accounting is maintained in which each fund is a complete set of records within itself. In addition to the General Fund, which is the operating fund of the city, the Finance Department presently accounts for the financial activities of the:
  • Capital Projects
  • Debt Service
  • Enterprise
  • Internal Service
  • Special Revenue
  • Trust and Agency Funds

Budgets & Comprehensive Financial Annual Reports

The City Council has final authority for adopting the annual budget and establishing the property tax levy. The Comprehensive Financial Annual Report is prepared by the Finance Department and is a reflection of the city's plan, policies, procedures and objectives regarding the programs and services provided by the city.
