The 2012 Coon Rapids Citizens Academy

One of the "coolest" civics classes around!

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the city’s police and fire departments, or take a tour of the city’s cable television studio?  Are you interested in learning more about city operations?  If so, you’ll want to be part of the Coon Rapids Citizens Academy.  This free program is designed to give residents an up-close, behind the scenes look at city operations.  In this 8 week adventure, you will learn about city snow plowing, become a police officer or firefighter for an evening, and understand how the city manages its budget.  This unique opportunity will allow you to gain a better understanding of city departments and services, and you will also be able to provide valuable input to city leaders.  Be a part of something historical!  Become one of the first participants in the 2012 Coon Rapids Citizens Academy.

The program will take place on Monday evenings, beginning March 5, and run through April 23.
Time: 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Location of first session: The Harvest Grill Event Center at Bunker Hills
The program is limited to 20 participants. Application deadline is February 20, 2012.
